Lorena Rivas

Lorena Rivas is a Research Fellow in the Griffith Criminology Institute at Griffith University. She holds a PhD in Criminology, in which she examined the impact of long-term immigration detention on the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of women detainees in Australia. Her research focuses on the intersections of systemic structures and vulnerable populations- particularly women- within the contexts of border criminology and criminal justice. Lorena also has research interests in human rights and atrocity crimes. She is a member of the ANZSOC Borders group at Border Criminologies.
