Louisa Hattendorff

Louisa Hattendorff is a research assistant and doctoral candidate at Humboldt University of Berlin. Her research interests lie at the intersection of law and society, with a particular focus on legal mobilisation and social movements, contemporary legal history, and feminist legal studies.

In her dissertation, she explores the history and patterns of feminist legal struggles in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1948 and 1990. Her dissertation is supervised by Professor Dr. Susanne Baer and funded by the Heinrich Böll Foundation. During her time at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, she focuses on the methodological and socio-legal dimensions of her research.

Louisa previously studied law at Humboldt University of Berlin. She has taught seminars on legal history, including courses that resulted in a student exhibition and a series of Wikipedia articles. She is also involved in a number of academic and civil society projects and is the founder of a German-language network for early-career scholars working on feminist legal history.
