Rebecca Valerio

Rebecca has recently completed the MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at the University of Oxford. Her research interests include border externalisation, the harms of the detention and border system, and states’ justifications for migration policies, with a regional focus on Italian and EU policies in the Central Mediterranean Sea. She has experience with organisations and non-profits in the Balkans, Italy, and Northern France, supporting people on the move and collecting testimonies of border violence. She is a research and communications intern with Border Criminologies.
