Sofie Aaltonen

Biography
Sofie Aaltonen is a PhD fellow at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen (KU), conducting interdisciplinary research on law, sociology, and religion. Her doctoral project explores how the Danish legal and welfare state regulates Islam and Muslims across the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government. During her time at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, she is researching how to identify and map normative transformations since 2000, including the spatial and embodied dimensions of formal and informal law. Sofie holds a master’s degree in Sociology of Law from Lund University and a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Roskilde University.
