We are delighted that Eddy Ventose, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, will be visiting Oxford next week and will be presenting a paper at the PLDG titled ‘A Constitutional Dilemma: The Ossification of Pre-Independence Laws by Commonwealth Caribbean Constitutions’. Come along to hear about how the Privy Council and the Caribbean Court of Justice have dealt with Caribbean constitutions in death penalty cases. 

 

Derek O’Brien, Reader in Public Law at Oxford Brookes (and co-editor with Richard Albert and Se-shauna Wheatle of The Oxford Handbook of Caribbean Constitutions 2020) will be discussant.

 

The event will take place at 12:30, at the Old Library (All Souls College). A sandwich lunch will be served.
