Biography

Pía Chible joined Oxford as a DPhil student in 2022.

Her research examines the nature of the decisions that are reached by State administration. Her aim is to show that the distictiveness of administrative law relates to the specific type of reasoning entailed in administrative decision-making. Her account draws from literature of practical reason, philosophy of action, political philosophy and virtue ethics, as well as constitutional and adminsitrative law theory. Her DPhil is being supervised by Dr Hasan Dindjer.

She holds an MJur from Lincoln College, Oxford (Distinction) and an LL.B from the University of Chile. Before coming to Oxford she worked for four years in the Chilean Competition Agency.

Pía is currently co-chair of the Philosophy, Law and Politics Graduate Forum, and convenor of the Public Law Discussion Group. She is also College Lecturer in Law at Worcester College (where she teaches Administrative and Constitutional Law) and St Catherine's College (where she teaches Jurisprudence). During 2024-2025 she taught Jurisprudence at Christ Church and Hertford College, and co-convened the Jurisprudence Discussion Group.

She is interested in a variety of topics, including moral, legal and political philosophy, as well as constitutional and administrative law and theory.
