Sophia Demetriou-Jones

Biography

Sophia is a BCL candidate at the Faculty of Law and the co-convener of the Feminist Jurisprudence Discussion Group. Prior to joining the University of Oxford, Sophia graduated from City, University of London with a first-class degree in Law (LLB), ranking top of her class and winning various awards including the Allen and Overy Prize for International Economic Law, Lewis Silkin Prize for Media Law, and the Herbert Smith Freehills Prize for academic excellence.

Sophia's research interests are wide-ranging, with a particular interest in socio-legal feminist studies across a range of legal subjects; her undergraduate dissertation entitled "A Feminist Judgment: reconsidering the law of constructive trusts under Lloyds Bank v Rosset"  explored putting feminist jurisprudence into practice by re-writing a seminal Land and Equity case using feminist methodology and was awarded the Hart Publishing Prize for best dissertation. In addition, Sophia was the Publishing Editor of the City Law Review, a student-led Law Journal.

On the BCL Sophia is currently studying Jurisprudence, Competition, Regulation, and International Dispute Settlement.
