Wing Yin Anna Tsui

Anna is a Swire Scholar pursuing a DPhil in Criminology. Her research examines immigration detention and deportation in East Asia through a comparative lens, supervised by Professor Mary Bosworth. She is a member of the Detention and Deportation Thematic Group within Border Criminologies.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics with first-class honours from the University of Oxford. She completed the MPhil in Sociology at the University of Hong Kong, where her thesis explored immigration detainees’ visibility and pathways to illegality in Hong Kong. Her broader research interests centre on the intersection of illegality, social marginalisation and labour.
